On January 22, the DALIA team submitted a proposal for the Initialisation Phase of Base4NFDI to become a basic service in the NFDI. The aim of DALIA4NFDI is to establish a centralised platform for promoting data literacy and research data management through quality-assured, open, accessible teaching and training resources. Via the embedding into the basic service landscape of the NFDI, DALIA will provide users with a single point of entry to find relevant educational resources.

Following the paradigm ‘data literacy for everyone from the very beginning’, the DALIA platform uses semantic web technology and a knowledge graph for efficient resource organisation and personalised recommendations. The DALIA Interchange Format ensures metadata standardisation and interoperability with NFDI knowledge graphs and other services. Key objectives during the initialisation phase will include empowering the community, enhancing semantic integration within NFDI, and connecting to other platforms such as EOSC. By integrating feedback and use cases from the community, educational efforts will be harmonised across disciplines and the user will benefit significantly from tailored functionality.
For NFDI4Chem, the DALIA platform not only offers a place for our teaching and training materials to be found by a wider audience, but also helps to establish a data culture in academia and beyond – not just in chemistry. In addition, people from NFDI4Chem are involved in the development of DALIA and are actively contributing to the NFDI Section Training & Education. As you can see, the DALIA service is at the heart of our ideas and vision.
