NFDI4Chem and the ELN-Finder at TU Darmstadt strengthen collaboration
Electronic lab notebooks (ELNs) have become an integral part of digital data management in laboratories. They support the planning and realisation of experiments, process digital data from measuring devices and prepare the results for publications.
At the same time, procedures differ not only between disciplines, but also within disciplines – researchers in organic chemistry have different requirements to those in inorganic chemistry.
To take this into account, NFDI4Chem and the ELN Finder team have added the category “Subdisciplines in Chemistry”. NFDI4Chem has compiled a catalogue of the relevant subdisciplines and the ELN Finder team has added them to the database. The providers listed in the ELN Finder were then able to assign their ELNs to the corresponding sub-disciplines.
Search becomes easier
The search for a suitable ELN can be time-consuming. For chemistry, NFDI4Chem offers comprehensive support in the selection process in its knowledge base, which utilises the results of the ELN Finder, among other things. Searchers can also find suitable providers directly on the pages of the ELN Finder.
The inclusion of subdisciplines in the ELN Finder and the updated integration of the ELN Finder into the Knowledge Base will make it easier for chemistry researchers to find a suitable ELN in future.
About the providers
NFDI4Chem is a consortium for the development of a national research data infrastructure in chemistry and is funded by the DFG.
The ELN Finder is a service of the ZB MED – Information Centre for Life Sciences, Cologne and the University and State Library Darmstadt.
