From 2 to 4 December, the workshop “Data literacy in focus: offerings, quality assurance and networking” took place at the Volkswagen Foundation’s Xplanatorium in Hanover. It was organised by Dr Yvana Glasenapp (FDM-NDS), Dr Lioba Schreyer (fdm.nrw), Dr Barbara Weiner (SaxFDM) and Dr Beate Ulrike La Sala (HeFDI) and was part of the Volkswagen Foundation’s Digital Competence in Science Week.
Sonja Herres-Pawlis contributed the perspective of NFDI4Chem in her presentation entitled “Research Data Management in Curricular Teaching, NFDI Section EduTrain and the DALIA Platform for RDM Teaching Materials”. At RWTH Aachen University, research data management has already been implemented in curricular teaching in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in chemistry for several years. She was also able to report from the NFDI section EduTrain and provide current insights into the DALIA portal, which enables target group-specific searches for RDM teaching materials on the basis of a knowledge graph (https://search.dalia.education/basic).
During the workshop, there were excellent opportunities for networking with many representatives of the FDM state initiatives and data competence centres, and exciting topic blocks on skills development and also quality assurance and standards of open training materials were enriched with experiences from NFDI4Chem, the EduTrain section and the DALIA project.
